THE ALPS

The Mystery of the Mountain Trail
The morning sun was just beginning to shine over the snowy peaks of the Alps when SuperJackie,
Gabi, and Max stepped onto a narrow mountain trail.
“Look at those mountains!” Gabi said, staring up at the enormous white peaks. “They look like they
touch the sky!”
Max adjusted his backpack.
“And we’re really going all the way up there?”
SuperJackie smiled behind his sunglasses.
“Well, there’s only one way to find out what’s waiting for us.”
And so the adventure began.
The trail led them through green meadows filled with tiny mountain flowers. In the distance, they
could hear the gentle sound of cowbells, while high above them an eagle circled through the clear
blue sky.
Everything seemed peaceful.
Until Gabi suddenly stopped.
“Wait!”
On the ground in front of them were a series of small footprints.
Max crouched down to take a closer look.
“They’re not ours.”
“And they’re definitely not SuperJackie’s,” Gabi laughed.
SuperJackie looked at the tracks. They disappeared around a rocky corner farther up the mountain.
“Looks like someone else is exploring the Alps today.”
They decided to follow them.
The higher they climbed, the cooler the air became. Soon the green meadows began to disappear
and the landscape became rockier.
Then they heard something.
A faint sound came from behind a group of rocks.
Max froze.
“Did you hear that?”
They carefully moved closer.
Behind the rocks stood a small young ibex. It looked frightened and seemed unsure how to get back
to the path above.
“Oh no,” Gabi whispered. “I think it’s lost.”
SuperJackie looked around carefully.
“We shouldn’t scare it. Wild animals need space.”
Instead of approaching the animal, the three friends stepped back and watched.
A moment later, another ibex appeared higher on the rocks.
The little one immediately lifted its head.
“There!” Max said. “It isn’t alone!”
Slowly and confidently, the young ibex began climbing toward the other animal.
Gabi watched in amazement as it moved across the steep rocks.
“How can it climb like that without falling?”
“Their hooves are perfect for mountain life,” SuperJackie explained. “Ibex can move across steep,
rocky slopes that would be very difficult for us.”
Within moments, the little ibex had reached the higher ledge.
It stopped for just a second and looked back at the three friends before disappearing over the rocks.
Gabi smiled.
“Mystery solved.”
“Not quite,” said Max, pointing ahead.
The tiny footprints continued up the trail.
They followed them one last time until the path opened onto a spectacular viewpoint.
Snow-covered mountains stretched as far as they could see. Far below them were forests, villages,
and a bright blue mountain lake.
For a moment, nobody said anything.
“Wow,” Max finally whispered.
SuperJackie looked at his friends.
“Sometimes the best discoveries aren’t at the end of an adventure.”
Gabi looked confused.
“What do you mean?”
“They’re everything we notice along the way.”
Gabi looked back at the trail they had climbed, then at the mountains around them.
The flowers.
The eagle.
The mysterious footprints.
The little ibex.
She smiled.
“Then we discovered a lot today.”
SuperJackie laughed.
“And we’re only getting started.”
The three friends turned toward the next mountain trail.
Because somewhere in the Alps, another adventure was already waiting for them.
Every day is a chance to be a hero.
